A Special Moment: Holding Your Own Story in Print
Years ago, my path intertwined with a lovely teenage girl, Arina, who now stands before you in the photo. Our meeting occurred during my time volunteering with orphans, where Arina was once a part of that world. Our connection deepened as I chaperoned her during the visit to the USA as part of an orphan hosting program.
Throughout our journey together, Arina and I engaged in heartfelt conversations that delved into her experiences – from life in the orphanage to the turbulent challenges of foster care. At that time, she seemed to have lost all trust in people.
Her journey was transformative. Several weeks later, as we were heading home, she had become a completely different child – smiling and brimming with love. The host family wanted to adopt her, and she wanted to be a part of the family. Soon, the family was complete with the addition of Arina, and she moved to live on another continent.
Years later, we crafted an article that shared her remarkable journey. This article was published in media and touched the hearts of many people, resonating with its message of resilience, hope, and the power of love.
And then, after almost seven years, Arina and I crossed paths again - she was coming to visit me. Reuniting with Arina filled me with indescribable joy and gratitude. Introducing her to my family and hosting her in our home was an honor beyond words. We had fun, spending hours talking, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company.
But there’s more.
In the attached picture, you can see Arina holding the magazine that encapsulates her life story.
It’s an incredible feeling to hold in your hands the narrative of your own journey, and I am humbled to have been the one to capture it.
I am endlessly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Arina’s journey and to share her incredible story with the world.
